Primary Tonsillar Tuberculosis: A Case Report

Tuberculosis still maintains its place among important diseases today. This is becoming a problem not only in developing countries but also developed countries. A 16-year-old female patient living dormitory was admitted to clinic with complaint of tonsillitis recurring 8-9 times year chronic sore throat. Tonsillectomy operation performed, tonsillar tissues were sent for pathological examination. Pathology result reported as caseified granulomatous tonsillitis. Her tuberculin skin test 20 mm diameter. The Ziehl-Neelsen staining examination tissue revealed stained positively two areas. Other organs examined found be normal. With diagnosis primary tonsil tuberculosis, started on anti-tuberculosis treatment isoniazid, rifampicin, ethambutol, pyrazinamide. After months quadruple therapy, isoniazid rifampicin given additional 4 months. now second after no recurrence finding has been observed. disease that affect all tissues. In this respect, case suspicion microbiological postoperative tonsillectomy materials particularly important.
